Mrs. Tallamy has developed a great love of music and the piano in my daughter who’s been with Christy going on five years now. Christy has a wonderful sixth sense and I feel so fortunate that my girl has this influence in her life.

LITTLE EARS MUSIC STUDIO was established in 2007 and is a home-based studio located in Leesburg, Virginia that accepts 30 individual piano and voice students per season. Adult lessons are also available. The Music Room is open Monday through Friday, September through May and welcomes new students in September.

The LEMS MUSIC SEASON includes twenty-eight individual lessons in piano, voice or a combination of both, guided participation in Project Composition, and three performance opportunities. Opportunities for group lessons and/or masterclasses vary throughout the season. Families may choose from two different educational tracks: basic music instruction (30-45 minute lessons) and advanced performance instruction (45-60 minute lessons).

OUR STUDIO PHILOSOPHY focuses on community and family involvement. The primary objective is to encourage a lifelong love of music.

  • STUDENTS ARE TAUGHT improvisation, sight-reading, traditional music reading, performance skills, music history and composition.

  • ANNUAL PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES reflect a balanced approach to musical life from social interaction to casual performance to formal evaluation.

  • The TEACHING STYLE encourages self-expression and acceptance while striving to reach our full musical potential.

  • AFFORDABLE TUITION is based on seasonal enrollment rather than a per lesson cost and is designed to provide your family with a private music educator available to assist in other musical endeavors such as school, church, or community performances.

Little Ears Music Studio is not currently accepting new students. We recommend you find a studio through FAIRFAX-LOUDOUN MUSIC FELLOWSHIP or NORTHERN VIRGINIA MUSIC TEACHERS ASSOCIATION

Christy Tallamy, NCTM, has been immersed in music since she was a child. As a minister's daughter, she was introduced to the piano through hymns and played mostly by ear until her teenage years. In 1991, at the age of 17, she became a lead vocalist and performer for Dolly Parton Entertainment. It was during this time that she was introduced to "Piano Duels" and rag piano. Throughout her early music years, she honed her composing on the piano and performed often as a vocalist.

She received her BA in Communications and Marketing from Lee University in 1996. While her degree came from the Communications departments, she spent most of her free time in the music department where she worked with the University's premier choir-- the Lee Singers. She also served as the writer and keyboardist for a small traveling performance group. As a vocalist, she has performed throughout the world-- often teaching young children the art of music-making as part of her travels.

Christy began her working life in investment management and later moved to publishing in the alternative health industry. She left corporate work in 2001 and began work as freelance writer in the health industry. By 2003 her creative endeavors had evolved into Purplink, a specialized creative services organization that provided commissioned art and writing services for both business and personal use.

She returned to music in mid-2000, teaching preschool music at LUMC (2006-2010), joining the LUMC Praise Band (2004-2017)  and filling the role of lead vocalist & songwriter for the local band, RiverCreek (2009-2012). She remains an active volunteer in the educational arts through LCPS. In 2007, she began teaching a few neighborhood children piano and from these few students, Little Ears Music Studio was born. Today, Little Ears is a thriving home music studio and small-run music publishing group built on the foundation of a love for music, children, and strong community involvement.

Her teaching philosophy is born of her own life-long connection to music.  She teaches music as a life-skill and strives to help young people bring music into their adult lives. She approaches each child as a unique individual-- teaching all aspects of music including ear training, improvisation, composition, and traditional music theory.

On a professional level, she is a Nationally Certified Music Teacher in Piano Education, member of MTNA, NFMC (chairperson), VMTA (Executive Board Member) and NVMTA (Composition Chair). On a personal note, she is married with three children and the family maintains an active membership with the local United Methodist congregation.
