Each lesson, including the group time and performance opportunities, is designed to move your child forward in their music study and is essential to your child’s growth. Students and their families are asked to commit to completing the full piano season and to make their piano lesson time and at home practice a priority.
NO REFUNDS OR MAKEUPS are available for no-shows. When possible, please give 24 hours notice if a lesson is to be missed. In consideration of "circumstances beyond our control", makeup classes are offered on Makeup Mondays.
Regular Scheduled Lessons
Once our weekly schedule is set, parents may work with each other if a switch is needed. Please be sure to review the calendar for individual shifts in lesson times (due to school conflicts). There are also pre-determined holiday & vacation weeks. These are reflected on the posted calendar. The Piano Season will have 30 lessons and 5 performance opportunities (September JAM, Holiday Party, Spring Festival, Composition Party, Spring Recital).
Group Class Times
Group classes are a key part of the Little Ears musical experience-- integral in improving your child’s performance and presentation techniques. When they are scheduled into the calendar, they are considered part of the music instruction that is covered by your child's tuition. The classes will be 60 minutes and broken into two skill levels.
Masterclasses
Masterclasses give your child the opportunity to learn a new perspective from a different music teacher-- sometimes even a completely different music discipline. Guest teachers come in and "teach" the class using a few predetermined music selections. We all get to benefit from their unique knowledge and experience. Masterclasses are geared toward 3rd year students and above, but would be interesting to students of all levels.
In case of school closings...
LEMS follows the LCPS school calendar. For both lesson quality and liability reasons, In-Studio classes WILL NOT be held when school is cancelled due to inclement weather. An independent lesson plan will be sent out and a video lesson will be posted on our youtube channel.
