Conceive, Create, Complete: Workshop Talk
The link below is a talk given to the Fairfax Loudoun Music Fellowship and Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association in the Fall of 2021. The talk focuses on creating a composition project within the private studio over a period of six months. The talk, while not specifically connected to the Personal Composition Journey Workbook, offers supporting ideas on creating a natural composition environment for students. Use of the Composition Workbook offers stepping stones throughout the composition teaching process.

Each private educator develops their own philosophies over time. At LEMS, shaping a student’s musical identity as an orator, reader and speaker is a central focus. The graph to your left depicts this philosophy. The image to your right provides an overview of the in-studio tools you may need as an educator to produce shareable compositions. Both of these images are part of the video talk.
